International Shipping Systems
EDI: Electronic Data Interchange
Electronic Data Interchange is a sharing between partners of pertinent information and documents that is used in the shipping industry.
This automated exchange improves efficiency, accuracy and reduces costs and data entry errors that are associated with paper-based processes and manual re-keying of information.
Fort has been utilizing EDI since 1980 and are experts at implementing edi partnerships.
We can also capture and upload Data from PDF’s and Spreadsheets.
EDI combined with our proprietary technologies enables us to streamline information flow and offer consistency of data across all important shipping documents and reports.
Fort uses EDI to capture and exchange information for Shipping Instructions, Bookings, Bills of Lading and Custom Documents amongst the parties involved in an international shipment.
Information that is exchanged electronically in real-time and automatically used to populate our system allows for greater visibility and control of real time tracking for your shipments, and greater visibility into inventory levels.
EDI is a valuable tool for companies operating in today’s global economy.
Systematic Use of EDI and Data Control Points
Fort system uses EDI 301 Booking Confirmations, EDI 315 Event Status Messages sent by the carriers, and Data Control Points entered by Fort Personnel.
Systematic checks for accuracy are performed against data we have in our shipment record.
Any disparities or missing information is identified by our system.
An Auto Critique setting forth any mismatch of information is systematically triggered to all parties who should decide on further actions to be taken to rectify disparities before they become costly problems.
